Jeremy Rose Photographer

Jeremy Rose was born in Philadelphia, PA in 1994. He enjoyed art classes in elementary and high school, but there was never and real budget or time in the public-school system for art. He when to some art classes in the summers on drawing but never feel like he was able to create the images that he wanted with a pencil. He was first introduced to photography in Community College at Montgomery County Community College in Bluebell PA. He instantly found a connection to the medium and was inspired by the work of Joel Peter Witkin and Jeremy Staffer. He graduated with a BFA from Temple University, Tyler School of Art and Architecture.
My work involves elements of horror and surrealism. My creative process starts with the main idea of what he wants to photograph sometimes the idea can come from watching a film or reading a book. I then do research into why I like the topic and see if there are any elements in the history of photography as to why he finds the subject visually appealing. Then I look for locations and plan out ideas of what to photograph. Once I get an idea in my head, I set up my equipment and get with every model I need to do the shoot. I think that a lot of my work that does not have a lot of conceptual ideas behind it is mostly about showcasing visual elements of horror and surrealism that I find to be visually interesting. The work that I have done does have a conceptual idea to it deals with the human condition in some way. All of my work has a darker atmosphere and the use of light and shadow in a meaningful way to accomplish that.
